Cama Beach, Yarn, Music and More…

I got this sent to me in my email from a friend…and well since they said to forward it out, I’m going to take the liberty of amusing you with the words of Skeeter Daddle (missionary of the South End String Band, aka Jack Archibald, who is also a brilliant stained glass artist, and humorist)

“Date: Saturday, June 7, 2008, 10:46 AM

CAMA BEACH STATE PARK GRAND OPENING

In case you have been institutionalized or just reverted to living under
a beach rock, you probably know already that Saturday, June 21st, the
biggest event to hit Camano Island is going to roll in on us like a swimming
pool tsunami. Oh yeah, we're talking about the grand opening of the Cama
Beach State Park, only about a decade in the making, but finally here once
and for all.

And of course you know, unless you've been diagnosed with chronic
xenophobia or else you live too far south down the island, the South End
String Band will be playing as the Island House Band. We've graciously
invited the Governor, the legislature, the tribes, the whole state, in fact,
to come down and listen to us play, hoot and holler for the celebratory
kick-off to the latest, greatest park to come down the pike since South End
Park, the 5 acre jewel in the crown of the island's park system. No
offense to Cama or Camano State Park.

     So . since we're a bipartisan, non-discriminatory fiddle band,
we're also inviting YOU. We'll be playing music from our new
CD, shamelessly titled CABIN FEVER with the coincidental artwork of the
iconic Cama Beach cabins on the cover. And we're going to be selling that
little marketing masterpiece to every poor soul struck dumb by the awe and
majesty of the park who strolls by the soundstage. We may even change our
name. Cama Beach Park Band. Sounds kinda nice, don't it?

Come on down and buy us. Hear us, I mean. We're playing 12 to 2, then
we're letting the politicians make their speeches, after which, we wake
back up and kick back in from 4 to 6. It's going to be the event of the decade
on Camano so don't let this party pass you by. Plan on carpooling, plan on
coming in by boat, plan on canceling conflicting events, plan on being a
part of history. Check the park's website for more pertinent information.
(We said it would be okay if they posted something too...)www.parks.wa.gov

If you know anyone who IS living under a rock, please forward this to
them in hopes their lives will become as full as all ours. It's the decent
thing to do.
thanks, skeeter daddle, missionary for the band"

The photos are mine...I'm not the best photographer in the world, but I decided to take some fun photos of the last days
before the park is open to the world ;)
Come on down if you can, if you are a spinner come on and sit with us, we're having a mini spin in, and handworking demonstrations...hopefully it won't rain,
but I'm not going to promise sun... I will promise a canopy, and shelter, and a good time!
And I can spin again slowly, but surely...so all you folks waiting on yarn, I'm spinning as fast as I'm allowed to go :)
