Oh com’on folks! Don’t be shy! Enter and you could win! Thanks to those of you brave souls who already have!
Yes, yes I know I started this with a campaign to STOP THE UGLY and well I think this works towards meeting that goal…
We have to admit our problems…our poor yarn choices, our obsession with stitching until we’re blearyeyed and well…a passion for making UNUSUAL things (which frankly my sense of humor is not going to stop me crocheting a purple harem bra with bright red tassles…)
Let me have it…send in your stories…

One of the Etsy FAST (Fiber Arts Street Team) was lovely enough to include one of my yarns in an EtsyFAST Treasury! Check it out here: http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=7416
All the yarns were chosen by sunriselodgestu (look this person up on etsy!) and are lovely!
Thanks again!

I love my expandable totes! Who wouldn’t like a bag that is both expandable and fashionable! Certainly not to be used to hold the spare change however, this purse is just built for shopping in mind…Using my Spuntastik! Elastik! yarn at the base and Spuntastik! Chenooly for the top portion, this is a durable, flexable, washable, useable…heck name an -able…it is certainly that. The redesign was of the top portion. Instead of working it like a messanger bag, which I fixed that design too
I worked it straight up, added in a bone ring or two and voila! A purse that can handle a tom boy like me, I love to shove everything in my purse from baseballs to yarn balls, to hooks and packets of jelly beans. You name it, hey when I use a purse I need it to expand!

Well, um… I hadn’t noticed the typo, of course I hadn’t looked over this pattern because it was the more traditional of the two I had submitted.
I just got a nice email from a lady asking if I was the Laurie A. Wheeler who’s sock patterns were in the Crochet~ Pattern A Day calendar and did the pattern really require 32 skeins of yarn and if so what kind?!
ACK…to all… The pattern requires 2-3 skeins. Two if you want single colored socks, and three if you want different colors for the heel/toe. It takes a full three skeins for a larger sized/man’s sock.
Just so you know

Hello TheyWhoFashionWithNeedles!
Just so you know, I like you too. I love knitwear, and when my kids grow up and I can have an extra room to put more crap ahem… I mean craft stuff, I fully plan on being a knitting MACHINE addict.
I just wanted you to know, as much as I prefer making my crochet sisters giggle with glee over fabulous fibers that just POP when crocheted. Most of my yarn knits up beautifully as well. I make note when it is not knitter friendly.
So say if you wanted to purchase some Scrumblini’s for a free form knitting project, all I’d like to know in the order was that you are a knitter, then I would ensure that the most appropriate yarns for knitting would be included.
Just so you, I do not exclude. I focus on we hooksters, because for so long we have been locked in the sad lonely corners of drafty holiday bazaars, and under the stairs being forced to use yarns that just don’t work up the way we need them to!
Completely not any knitters fault. More like a lack of understanding and creativity on the part of an industry that has changed little since about 1600 AD.
Just so you didn’t feel left out.

These are the contents of my care package from my secret pal (Laura) who is from Winston Salem, NC. I just LOVED all of what she sent how awesome! Again this is part of the secret pal swap for those who wished to participate from Ravelry.
If you haven’t got on the waiting list, go sign up today. It’s a really great concept, and I’m just so impressed by the young couple who had a brilliant idea and are doing great things with it!
I can’t wait till it’s out of beta, but they are testing everything so well!

Yay! Did you know you can read out loud to kids and ply yarn at the same time? Neither did I, until tonight. LOL… I had already finished the yarn order, but needed to complete the yarn for my own tote that will serve as my redesign.
I had to make sure I had calculated the yardage correctly, which I had…Don’t you hate it when you second guess yourself?
My reputation means a lot to me, so the thought of shorting anyone just makes my stomach churn, I often recheck orders three or four times just to be sure. I will also add extra just in case, especially if someone’s tension is different than my own. Though people would be hard pressed to have tighter tension and still have the project turn out
LOL
I’m definately using my new tote as a shopping bag here and in Oakland, at the CGOA regional conference. (CGOA=Crochet Guild of America).
Next on the to do list? Well get the rest of the Summer Camp Package off to my Ravelery Secret Pal! I just got my package today from my Secret Pal and it’s a great bounty and so very thoughtful!
I’ll take pics tomorrow and post them
If you haven’t heard or signed up to be on ravelry you’ve got to at least take a look at it!

It’s in the beta phase, and they have a waiting list. It’s a little more orientated towards knitting, but they are working very hard to make the hooksters happy! I’ve been a member for a couple of months now and I’m really impressed with what this young couple has started, and the wonderful volunteer efforts of several hundred people! Amazing, and pretty good coding too! Again I’m completely impressed!
Check it out!

You know the saying “You gotta make hay when the sunshines.” Well the same applies to washing fleeces. I have a romney, a suffolk, and a mohair fleece all in tubs washing. I have sun, I am using said sun.
I haven’t had enough sun to get to all the fleeces I possess, and I can do small batches of fiber in the house, but if you have ever smelled a fleece during the washing process, you will totally understand why I’m doing this now!
So in between washing fleece, I’m dying some up, and spinning the yarn order. I’ve got two more skeins to go.
Normally I’m finished washing spring fleeces, and just have to wash the fleece purchased at the fair. But of course we had a cold, wet spring so I’m playing catch up.
Yay?!
